Key Colony Beach

Tour the Keys from this Central Location

Located 50 miles north of Key West and an hour and a half drive south from Dade County, Key Colony Beach is a picturesque city located on one of the Florida Key islands. The permanent resident population is below 1,000; however with winter residents, the city’s population generally tops 2,500. The most popular accommodations on Key Colony Beach are ocean front condos and other vacation rental properties just steps from the beach and surf.

Key Colony Beach is famed for the numerous carefully planned walking and jogging courses located throughout this pictorial locale. The city of Key Colony Beach also provides a public tennis court, basketball court and children’s playground; open to visitors and tourists alike. For those who want to get in a relaxing game of golf, there is a beautifully developed 9-hole golf course.

No visit to Key Colony Beach is complete without taking a trip to Captain Hooks to view the fish feeding at 4pm every afternoon. If you’re into larger sea life, trek on over to the Dolphin research center, a legendary Key Colony Beach attraction where you can play with the gentle mammals housed there.

Parasailing and snorkeling are just two of the many water sport activities that flourish on Key Colony Beach. Local marinas in the area rent all the water sports equipment you need as well as provide boat rental services.

Sunset Park and beach is the perfect place to spend the better part of an afternoon. Here, you can do some sunbathing, swimming or enjoy a lunch at the picnic tables scattered throughout the park. The Cabana Club also offers swimming and sunbathing facilities as well as a nice area for picnics.

Visitors to Key Colony Beach will find they are close enough to also take in some of the other beautiful locales in the Florida Keys. Traveling west along US Highway 1, you will find Key West 55 miles away. The Miami area and Miami International Airport are only 89 miles to the northeast along this well-traveled route. To the north by boat across Florida Bay and the Gulf of Mexico lies Naples, Florida, 109 miles away.
