The Sanctuary encompasses 11,000 acres of pristine wetland area east of Bonita Springs and is home to the only white wood stork nesting in the country. Nature lovers will find many other species of birds, turtles, manatee and various wildlife as well as a variety of tropical foliage. Exhibits and tours are available for the curious visitor or tourist. After visiting Bonita, it is easy to see what originally attracted the early settlers. The white sandy beaches, vast waterfront areas and fantastic sunsets are as beautiful today as they were 200 years ago.
