Safety Harbor, FL

A Waterfront Community Close to Everything

Safety Harbor is located in Pinellas County, Florida. Pinellas County is the most popular tourist destination on Florida’s Gulf of Mexico, with millions of visitors making this area their destination of choice each year. Safety Harbor is a relatively small city, with only 17,203 full-time residents in the year 2000 and a land area of 4.3 square miles. This quaint city has a small town appeal although it is right next to some of the most heavily traveled areas in Florida.

The Safety Harbor Farmer’s Market is a must-see for visitors to the area. It is located at The Gazebo at John Wilson Park and is open every Saturday. Patrons can purchase fresh Florida fruit and vegetables, flowers, plants, baked goods, and smoked fish while enjoying an open-air ambiance.

While primarily a residential community, downtown Safety Harbor, lined with trees and brick streets, has a quaint historical look with a village feel to it. On Main Street, shoppers can purchase everything from antiques to fine art. For the kids, there’s also a skateboard park.

A half-mile from Downtown Safety Harbor lies the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. Thought to be the fabled "Fountain of Youth" sought by early Spanish explorers, the resort is truly a one of a kind experience for your mind, body, and soul. Set on 22-acres of waterfront and featuring a 50,000 square foot spa and fitness center, the Resort is certainly a premier attraction in Safety Harbor. Choose from one of 189 deluxe guest rooms, and enjoy room service. Visitors can also dine at the exclusive 105 North, offering cuisine that is light on the calories and heavy on the flavor. After the meal, enjoy a game of tennis or golf, or rent a bike and go cycling on the nature trail. The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa is only 8 miles from the pristine beaches of Clearwater.

For a sumptuous dining experience right in the heart of downtown Safety Harbor, try Lincoln Heights Bistro on Elm Street. The Bistro offers southern style home cooking in a family-oriented atmosphere.

Safety Harbor is close to everything - including two major airports. Travelers can choose to use Tampa International Airport or the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. If Walt Disney World is on your trip agenda, the Orlando International Airport is only 2 hours away by vehicle.
